Standard instrument
The instrument remains a standard B♭ trumpet — nothing about the horn itself changes.
Concert-pitch reading
The student reads concert-pitch notes, the same as pianists, guitarists and singers.
Matching fingerings
The student learns the fingering that produces each concert-pitch note on the page.
Traditional notation later
Traditional transposed notation isn't required at the beginning, and can be learned later if relevant.
On traditional notation
Not a replacement for convention — a different starting point.
Traditional transposed notation remains a valuable skill and can be introduced later when a player needs it — to join a wind band or orchestra, for example, or to read from parts written for B♭ trumpet. The initial aim of ByeBye B Flat is simply to reduce unnecessary complexity and get beginners making music sooner.
